The Doer of ART

Gosh it took me so long to figure out how to do this silly meme tagged me with. I was starting to think I was stupid for not understanding how it should be done... I'm not even sure if I did it right.

Anyhoo, I did a few magazine covers of myself before but I didn't want to post those since it was the theme Rachey and her friend used. So I'll go for...

"Geisha", (gei) meaning "art" and (sha) meaning "person" or "doer".

Geisha are not prostitutes but lovers and doers of art.
The word Geisha means "artist" in Japanese.
Geisha are professional hostesses who entertain guests through various performing arts in tea houses called O-chaya. They are trained in a number of traditional skills such as Japanese ancient dance, singing, playing instruments such as the Shamisen, flower arrangement, wearing kimo no, tea ceremony, calligraphy, conversation, alcohol serving manners and more. Geisha continue to study and perfect these skills throughout their careers as geisha. A successful geisha must demonstrate beauty, grace, artistic talent, charm, impeccable etiquette, and refinement.

I admire their devotion to their career. Their patience in undergoing months (maybe even years) of maiko training is commendable. They understand their art and are adept at it.

I chose to show me as a geisha because in my field (arts), one has to have the same amount of patience and devotion.

Here's the instruction to this tag/meme:
1st step - Post a short blog article that includes a photograph (or a series of photos) showing the face behind your blog. If you already showed a photo somewhere on your site (such as in your about page), then make your post more interesting and choose a photo that’s not currently online.
2nd step - Include links to other people that have displayed a photo, or include their photos in your post, adding a reference.
3rd step - Tag as many others as you like in your post to spread the meme.
4th step - If you link back to me here and send an email I’ll be sure to include links back to you. Each person tagged should create their own post and repeat the process.I'm tagging Fran, Elaine, Sin, Jhungks, Duo, Eric, Shiela, Rayanne, Aileen, Ivan, Kelly, Francyn, Les, Tei, Mija, Jeyp and Kitty.

Erase and Rewind

I set my alarm to go off 30 minutes earlier than my usual waking time because I wanted to start going to work early (I'm usually 15-30 minutes late).

I woke up on time, headed for the bathroom to do all my morning rituals (including bathing, of course), spent a good 20 minutes blow-drying my hair and fixing my brows, got my lunch from the kitchen and left early, thinking the day ahead will be absolutely perfect and that I will be able to accomplish more today than I did the past 4 days.

But boy was I wrong to think starting the day right would mean starting early. I was greeted by a monstrous traffic jam this morning! How could I not get butt cramps from sitting in the bus for more than an hour (half of which was spent at Cubao)?! I was feeling giddy because I was bored and hungry so I texted some people while waiting for the long queue of vehicles all bound for Ortigas to move inch by inch. The passengers were getting angry at the driver (who really did nothing wrong. How is he to stop the cars from causing a traffic jam?) And why, of all days, did MMDA choose a Friday to do their sidewalk painting? Because the roads were dry today and they had to make use of the sunny weather? C'mon! Their asses were occupying half the roads! Argh! Good thing Text twist and Diner Dash kept me company for the duration of the trip.

We arrived at Ortigas a little over 8:50 and I fought to keep calm because if I'd give in and get pissed, I'd ruin the whole day, probably even the weekend.

I arrive 30 minutes late, left my ID in my other bag so I couldn't swipe in, and my Planner project needs to be overhauled.

So much for wanting to have a perfect day.

Catching Up

Fran and I had an impromptu dinner and coffee date at Sbarro and Sugarhouse (coffee from tarbax of course).

(which was actually long overdue but we kept rescheduling until we just stopped and one day just decided to go without planning)

I missed hanging out with her! =)

She is also going to be my wedding planner. Ainnit awesome?
